Livecom External Experience Award Abu Dhabi Investment House wanted to build public awareness of The Lagoon, their newly-built retail park on Amwaj Island, Bahrain. October’s Eid festival was the perfect opportunity to build awareness and position this attractive new mall as ‘the place to meet’, somewhere to socialise, have fun and shop. Bahrain residents were invited to celebrate the festival in three days of carnival at the park.
The Lagoon is out of the town centre, so it was essential to host entertainment on a scale never before seen in Bahrain. Activities for children were another key aspect of drawing people.
The carnival included face painting, circus workshops, carousels, walkabout acts, and performances by a local DJ and CBeebies presenter Boogie Pete. In the evening, there was a choreographed show featuring song, dance, acrobats, fire acts, contortionists and a heliosphere. Slick and fast paced, the evening then finished with a firework display.
Across the three days, over 17,000 people attended the park – double the numbers expected. Considerable coverage followed in local English and Arabic press too.
The success of The Lagoon launch was recognised with The External Experience Award at the recent Livecom Awards in London.
